What is a Master Class?

TLC’s Master Class is a new series of public lectures featuring some of Canada’s best teachers talking about unique topics of interest in your local community.

The inaugural lectures are scheduled to begin in Spring 2017 in Hamilton, Ontario. Each lecture will run for 60 minutes, and be followed by a 30-minute opportunity meet the professor and event sponsors.

Registration Fees

  • Under 10—free
  • Students and Seniors (55 and over)—$25
  • General Admission—$50
  • Gold Registration—$75

What is Gold Registration?  With your $75 payment, your name will be entered into a draw to win a door prize to be drawn at the conclusion of the event.

Professor of Anatomy

Bruce Wainman is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pathology and Molecular Medicine, an Adjunct Member of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Coordinator of Biological Sciences for the Ontario Midwifery Consortium. He is presently the Director of the Education Program in Anatomy as well as the Surgical Skills Lab at McMaster University.

His teaching excellence has been rewarded multiple times through the McMaster Students Union, the 2013 President’s Award for Educational Innovation, the Canadian Association for Medical Education Certificate of Merit Award in 2015 and Canada’s most presitigious teaching honour, a 3M National Teaching Fellowship.

Professor of Finance

Arshad Ahmad is the Vice-Provost, Teaching & Learning and Director of McMaster University’s MacPherson Institute.  He is passionate about teaching.

In 1992, he was named a 3M National Teaching Fellowship.  He is past president of The Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education, and past Vice-President of The International Consortium for Educational Development consisting of 24 member organizations worldwide. Both seek to improve the quality of the student learning experience.
